Each year the Asbury Park Homeowners Association awards scholarships to some
very deserving Asbury Park High School graduates. The winners for 2009 were
Rahmel Summerlin and Albert Wright.

City Council Election Results
The five incumbents Mayor Kevin Sanders, Deputy Mayor James Bruno, Councilmen John Loffredo and Ed Johnson, and
Councilwoman Susan Henderson have been reelected. Councilman Ed Johnson received the most votes.
School Board Election Results

On Tuesday, April 21, 2009, residents of Asbury Park elected Sgt. Connie Breech (289 votes), Robert DiSanto (237 votes),
and Geneva Smallwood (263 votes) to the Asbury Park School Board.
Springwood Avenue Redevelopment
The Springwood Avenue corridor is to be the location of four new projects scheduled to break ground
soon. The effort will produce 23,820 square feet of new retail and community space, including a senior center,
as well as 46 new residential units.
The Santander Celebrates 80th
The Santander will celebrate its 80th anniversary this year! It was built in 1929 and is well known for its beautiful fountain and lobbies.
